In short
Notodden's contribution to progressive metal, and for years Ihsahn's live band before it outgrew the job. Einar Solberg's falsetto is the instrument everything else is arranged around, and the records have moved steadily off the riff and onto rhythm and strings, so that Pitfalls sits closer to art pop under tension than to metal.
Where it sits
Leprous formed in 2001 in Norway. This tree dates Progressive metal from 1988, thirteen years earlier. Eight records here, 2009 to 2024.
